Description
A mild autumn day in the Washoe Valley area. This working ranch in the Franktown ranch district sits right up next to the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Located 15 miles south of Reno Nevada, the area has many large ranches interspersed with beautiful estates.
Franktown was founded in 1855 with the construction of a sawmill that furnished lumber to timbers to the mines in Virginia City and Silver City, know as the Comstock. There was also a quartz mill that employed hundreds of workers, along with the rich land and cool climate of the valley was perfect for agriculture and ranching. Little is left of the original town.
