Description
The Western Scrub Jay is a backyard favorite, happily accepting unsalted peanuts and walnuts from its friendly provider. Scrub Jays are native to the lower areas of the west, while their cousins, the Stellar's Jay tend to inhabit the higher regions. The term "scrub jay" should not be confused with "blue jays" which are natural to areas east of the Rocky Mountains. Nor should they be confused with "bluebirds" with the Mountain Bluebird being Nevada's official bird. The Western Scrub Jay is part of the crow family, which is quite apparent once you've been acquired by a couple of them!

I love the colors in this - artistically repeating the rust of the 'perch' in his feathers, and the blue background also repeated in his feathers. Really beautifully came together - a lovely image. v.
