thank you, Robin. my "pet" scrub jay alerted me to this moth. he had his eye on it! I scolded him (the scrub jay) and ran into the house for the camera. it obliged by hanging around for several photos :) thank you Robin

thanks, Donna. this was in my back yard. I was working out there and my "pet" scrub jay was being a pest (as usual), and then he got distracted and started eyeing something in the side yard. I went to find out what was getting him excited and there was the "hummingbird moth" hovering around the flower. he gave me plenty of time to run into the house and grab a camera, set the specs, and get the shot. and I do think it got away uneaten :)
