The Truckee River is very low this winter, but that allows the beautiful reflections of the old barn and cottonwoods in Sparks, Nevada. This is a standard 2x3 format and prints beautifully at 20x30.

This photo took first place in the FAA "REFLECTIONS" contest, June 2014 with 1205 entries. Thank you to the sponsor, Alanna Allen.

Janis Knight has called Northern Nevada home for 50 years. During childhood, every summer was filled with trips to the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains where she fell in love with the beauty, wildness and open spaces of the Great Basin. While art came naturally, it was her first Nikon SLR in 1982 that really ignited the passion for photography. A background in drawing and painting helped her develop her style using elements of composition and light. She began displaying photos in the Tri-county fair in Northern Nevada, often winning best of show and superior ribbons, and her photos hung in businesses around town. Finally, in 2001, she was able to attend University of Nevada, Reno, where she studied black and white film photography...
